Giancarlo MAROCCHI
He started from Bologna and he also wants to end, a long and rich in satisfaction career, there. First of all because he was born in Emilia Romagna (Imola), 33 years ago, and there he began to play football. He played so well that Bologna gave him the opportunity to make his first appearance in 1980-81, when he was just 17, and immediately became a pillar of that team. He stayed there until the 1988, leading Bologna back to Serie A. Shortafter he was called by Juventus and another very beautiful story started.
After 10 games with the "Lady of italian football", he was even called by the national team.(Perugia, December 22 1988: Italy-Scotland-2-0). Altogether Marocchi played 11 games with Italy and was part of the group which played the World Championship in Italy (1990). During his second season with Juventus, coached by Dino Zoff, he won the italian and the UEFA Cups. In 1992-93, with coach Trapattoni, another UEFA Cup success. Finally all the titles won with coach Lippi: the italian Championship and Cup in 1994-95, the Champions League in 1995-96, the italian SuperCup in 1996.
He left Juventus after 213 games in 8 years and his new challenge, now, has an old name: Bologna. He arrived there in 1996-97 when the team was just comeback in Serie A. He immediately became irreplaceable.
This year he is the captain and couples with an old teammate of Juventus: Roberto Baggio.
