Marek KOZMINSKI
Marek Kozminski looks like he is just arrived from hell. He arrived in Italy with good credentials to play the great european football and was immediately rated as one of the most interesting new-comer defenders. He was a starter for Poland and could play both as a left full-back and as a half-back with the same intensity. In 1992 he arrived in Friuli to play with Udinese which was struggling to stay in Serie A. He spent 3 seasons without any rest, shared between Udinese and Poland. It was a great start for him but misfortune was in ambush.
At the beginning of 1996 he suffered a first serious injury: a contacture in his thigh, then his heel became inflamed stopping him for two full seasons in a row. He felt so much pain in the back of his foot he couldn't even walk. He was operated but the solution of these problems was not quick. In the spring of 1997 the Cracovia's defender was ready to come back. However his coach, Alberto Zaccheroni, didn't agree.
When Udinese played in Reggio Emilia, Marek thought he would go at least on the bench but he was not even called to travel with the team. That day something broke down between him and his first italian team.
As a matter of fact in august 1997 Kozminski was traded to Brescia where he is still trying to find his best shape. At least now he can play all the games. He recovered the atmosphere of the game and the right continuity. His presence looks to be every week more and more important for Brescia that struggles to stay in Serie A. For now this proved to be the best way to forget all his bad memories.
