Dario HUBNER
Dario Hubner risked not to play the great football of professionals. Maybe this is the reason why the 30- years-old "ram of Brescia", who is playing this year his first season in Serie A, still shows the longing to make improvements, getting better and better. When he was 21 he still played for Muggia, his homevillage team in "prima categoria" (6th division). He didn't think nor lived as a professional player.
He was a window-door frames factory worker, and football was just an hobby to cultivate a couple of nights per week in addition to the Sunday games. The first change came when he began to play for Pievigina in a division once-called "interregionale" (a middle course between professionalism and dilettantism).Dario started a new life made by bunches of goals.
It has been a steady but slow growth: 3 seasons in C2 (4th division) with Pergocrema and Fano; 2 seasons in C1 (3rd division) still with Fano; 5 seasons in Serie B with Cesena where he scored 76 goals in 166 games leaving a very good memory of himself. He wanted to achieve Serie A with Cesena which last year, however, was relegated into Serie C1 in spite of Dario's many goals. In any case that was enough for him to be noticed by the highest floors of the italian football and to be acquired by Brescia. The big bet was to see if Hubner would be able to score, in Serie A, as many goals as he had been scoring over the last 9 years.
Dario Hubner won also this battle. He's got a deadly left foot and moves well inside the goal mouth, but he also can hit hard from outside. He has been keeping an average of 1 goal every 2 games so far. Dario should have probably reached serie A earlier but this is football and finally he materialized his dreams showing to deserve it.
