Massimiliano CAPPELLINI
An unlucky talent who started too early for that ìcity of successî he still has to reach. The 28th of February 1988, when he was just 17, he even made his debut in Serie A playing for Milan and winning 2-1 versus Sampdoria. In spite of playing just 5 games in 2 seasons, without scoring any goal, Milan and Arrigo Sacchi didnít stop believing in him.
With the Under 16 National Teamî he scored 4 goals in 5 games before being sent to Monza in Serie B.However he stayed with coach Frosio just for 1 month and 5 games before going to Piacenza where he played for 3 seasons (2 in serie C1 and 1 in serie B), scoring just 14 goals in 73 games.Milan kept following him but never called him back.
In 1992-93 he was traded to Atalanta (serie A), but troubles didnít stop.He never played before leaving again, this time to Como (serie C1). He finally had a great season scoring 14 goals in 15 games. That was enough to go back in serie A with Foggia where he scored 13 in 2 seasons (49 games). Then he had another stint with Piacenza before arriving at Empoli, 2 seasons ago. He helped the team coached by Spalletti to go in serie A by scoring 14 goals.
He is a very mobile forward with a great shot from afar. He can quickly move from the back-lines by tight triangulations with his teammate forward Esposito. This year they showed great things together. Their goal now is to keep Empoli in serie A as long as possible.
Cappellini is a very quiet guy who loves living in Firenze and eating salmon pasta. He likes to listen to music, especially U2 who are his favourite band. As soon as possible he goes to the cinema where Meryl Streep and Dustin Hoffman are his favourite actors. In short a real connoisseur.. in any field.
