Kennet ANDERSSON
(BOLOGNA)
There is just one way to
become famous around the world, if you were born in Eskilstuna, a small village with the
colours of the ice, situated on the top of Sweden. The way Kennet Andersson
used to become his country idol. He decided to become a football player even though, still
a child, he started with track and field sports following his brother Lennart, his sister
Christina and his mother Marianne a former member of the swedish national team. Later he
was able to seize his own chance becoming a succesful football player, the best football
player of his country.
U.S.A 94 World
championship:the great Kennet scores 5 goals in 7 games helping Sweden to get the final
third place. Since then the football market started looking for the golden forward. He
played in France and Belgium. At the end of 1995 he was lured by West Ham , Olimpiakos and
Bari. Kennet chose the italian League rating it as the most challenging one.
His first season in Puglia(1995-96) was an up and down experience, made by joys and sorrows. Joy for his first twelve goals in Italy, sorrow for the relegation of Bari, that fell into SERIE B. A relegation he still considers unfair. His name, however, still had a tremendous pull in the football market. West ham wanted him, and even Milan, that would want him as a backup for Weah. Finally Bologna, just back on SERIE A, succeded.
His new coach, Renzo Ulivieri, immediately found the right position for him. Andersson became the tower inside the opposing goal mouth, where he usually gets the high balls his team supplies him, by long passes from the midfield. At the beginning of this season then, Roberto Baggio, a superstar, arrived to couple with him. They seem to understand each other without problems. Kennet keeps being the "high altitude man", thanks to the structure of his body. This is the kind of game he excel at, also when he plays with the swedish national team, that gave him so much notoriety and happiness.
